Participate in Spatial Encoding Experiment

Location: Mesa, AZ 85212

You will be performing the simple task of identifying the location of a target displayed on a computer screen. While performing the task, your eye movements will be monitored by an eye tracking device that you will wear during the experiment. This experiment is for one sitting only and will last about an hour.

In order to participate you must be over the age of 18, be a U.S. citizen, and have uncorrected vision. If you have corrected vision we prefer that you wear soft contact lenses. We cannot accept participants that wear glasses, because they interfere with the eye tracking equipment. However, if you wear glasses and also have soft contact lenses or can see a computer monitor at close range without glasses, you are still eligible to participate.

The open availability for this study is from 8:30am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

•	Please make sure to wear your hair down if you have long hair, as it will be easier to set up the eye tracking device.
•	Please make sure that you are not wearing any eye makeup because it affects the way the eye tracker monitors your eye.
•	Please do not wear your glasses (if you own any) to the experiment. We cannot properly track your eyes if you are wearing glasses.

Direct an orphanage in Kenya

Location: New Canton, VA 23123

The International Humanity Foundation is looking for volunteers to serve at our orphanage and education centre in Nakuru,Kenya, and to be friends and teachers to our children. By bringing together the disadvantaged children of Kenya and volunteers from across the world, there is a learning opportunity for both. As both sides discover more about each other, their lives and their cultures and teach their others what they learned in this exchange, we hope to create a world of greater understanding and compassion. Our centre in Kenya also has a close relationship with the Pokot tribe and goes on regular famine
feeds to support it.
Work

IHF needs people with all skills. No matter your experience, whether a student or retired professional, IHF needs you. At the centre, volunteers divide their time between playing with and teaching the children and working on international tasks. The centre host English, computer and math classes, and the children often seek tutoring for their homework, all tasks which volunteers take part in. All directors lead on one or more of our international task teams such as university relations, photography and child watch. To qualify to work at a centre, volunteers must complete eight hours of work on one of the teams, and they continue to participate on the team once at the centre. In the rare case where you lack the ability to complete these hours but possess certain trade skills in agriculture, construction or others needed at one of our centres, you may be exempt from these pre-trip hours. If this is the case, be sure to immediately get in contact with the centre director to discuss your situation and possible alternative tasks.

It is important to note that IHF strictly requires its volunteer to work eight hours a day (four hours at the center and four hours online), six days a week. If this work is not completed, you will be dismissed from your position. As an entirely volunteer-run organization, IHF depends upon its members to contribute to the day-to-day operations, both locally and internationally. Without these daily hours, IHF would cease to function, so directors must be deliberate in their use of time. This is not a vacation. Directors are
expected to work hard.

Cost: Except for the initial transport to the center, directors are not responsible for any costs.

Salary / Pay: Directors must commit to serve at least a year at the center. For the first three months, they are paid a living stipend of USD $120. At the end of this training period, the monthly stipend increases to USD $160. Directors are expected to work eight hours a day, six days a week, and have one long weekend every month. Additionally, directors are provided with a simple, private room, often furnished with only a bed, at the center and have the opportunity to eat all of their meals at the center with the children. Directors are responsible for paying for any special treats or outside meals they might wish to buy.

Admittedly, this is little pay for demanding work, but IHF is only looking for those who genuinely want to help children and who seek no financial benefit for themselves. This low stipend also assures that the greatest amount of money goes toward the children, the most important part of IHF.

Benefits: A Simple, private room, often furnished with only a bed, at the center and have the opportunity to eat all of their meals at the center with the children. Directors are responsible for paying for any special treats or outside meals they might wish to buy.In other words wedo provide accomodation and full board.

Volunteer Type: Building schools, community development, childcare/children, culture, curriculum planning, disability issues, economic development education, English teaching, health, health care, health education, homelessness, hospital, housing, human rights, literacy, marketing, medicine, nutrition, orphans, popular education, primary education, street kids, teaching, women, water, writing, youth, youth development, academic reinforcement, AIDS/HIV, appropriate technology

Typical Volunteer: Our volunteers have a passion for immersion in foreign cultures, an openness to new experiences and a flexible approach to work. At our centres they work with local staff and directly with the local population in conditions very different from the Western world. Special projects constantly arise and include moving food during famine feeds to monitoring children during breaks. Our center directors have a lot of say in what they do as long as it is approved by the president and follows the mission of IHF.

Available To Participants: World wide

Typical Living Arrangement: Group living

Participants Travel: Independently

Typically Participants Work: Independently or in groups, depending on site

Application Requires: Resume, written application

Qualifications:

Volunteers with IHF must speak English fluently and have a great attitude. They must also be mature, responsible, team players, fast learners, flexible and interested in global change through education and service. Most importantly, our volunteers must have an open heart and a willingness to help others and make a difference!

Mission Statement:

IHF focuses on educating and feeding children who come from the most marginalized and disadvantaged backgrounds. IHF has set up orphanages in Kenya, Indonesia and Thailand. We seek to provide a way for children to get an education that they desperately desire and are not able to receive. By educating and teaching these children that they are significant and competent, we also teach them that everyone has a voice that matters. IHF promotes self-sufficiency in the communities we work in, primarily focusing on the education, nutrition, and care of children. IHF encourages understanding and caring between people of all nations and religions in order to better prepare the leaders of future generations. We believe that by promoting communication and understanding between students from the poorest of the poor and students in America, we will all be better educated by this exchange. We desire for every student in the United States to have communication with students abroad who are different both culturally and socioeconomically, in order for all students to be educated about the world they live in.
Our Thailand centre works especially with the hill tribes, the indigenous people who live in the tumultuous borderlands between Thailand, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos and as far as China and Vietnam. The hill tribes in northern Thailand face many challenges, and it is part of our mission to arm our children with the skills, attitudes and knowledge that they will need to have equal opportunities in their future like other Thai citizens. The children at our centre are from the Lahu and Akha tribes.

Language(s): English, Indonesian
Area of Focus: Children and Youth, Community Service and Volunteering, Education and Academia
Type: Full time
Description:

As director, you will be responsible for managing the International Humanity Foundation's education center in Bali. Unlike our other centers, the one in Bali is NOT an orphanage. Due to the willingness of women on the island to care for children and the corruption surrounding orphanages, the IHF center remains solely an education center. Your time will be divided between local tasks at the center with the children and international tasks for the whole of the IHF. Responsibilities include overseeing the teachers and classes, preparing financial reports, giving tasks to international volunteers, communicating with village leaders to find the neediest children, helping children write letters to their sponsors, seeing to the children's needs, sending daily reports to IHF, taking photos and other tasks. All directors are also expected to teach one to two hours of English, computer or mathematics classes every day.

We highly prefer candidates who speak and write both English and Bahasa and have good computer and leadership skills. You must also be prepared to work long hours and under pressure. Furthermore, you must not give up easily and be prepared to work with the local community. Your room and board are at the center itself so you will be living and working with the children. You must therefore be sensitive to their needs and comfortable around them.

IHF is a small grassroots organization which offers free classes for and financial assistance to students (through sponsorships) for the poorest children of Bali. Our organisation is almost entirely run by volunteers from around the world. This structure allows everyone involved to feel part of a family with a common cause. It also means that 100% of donations are spent solely on the needs of our children. Your monthly salary is representative of this organisational structure. USD 120 - 160 per month is generally equal to a basic local wage. No one within IHF earns above this rate.

This is is wonderful opportunity for very motivated and dedicated individuals to work for a very worthy cause. Serious applicants only.
Direct and Orphanage overseas - thailand

Location: San Diego, CA 92122

The International Humanity Foundation is looking for directors to manage our orphanage in Chiang Rai, Thailand, and be friends and teachers to our children. By bringing together disadvantaged children of Thailand and volunteers from across the world, there is a learning opportunity for both. As both sides discover more about each other, their lives and their cultures and go on to teach their own friends what they learned in this exchange, we hope to create a world of greater understanding and compassion.

Our Thailand center works especially with the hill tribes, the indigenous people who live in the tumultuous borderlands between Thailand, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos and as far as China and Vietnam. The hill tribes in northern Thailand face many challenges, and it is part of our mission to arm our children with the skills, attitudes and knowledge that they will need to have equal opportunities in their future like other Thai citizens. The children at our center are from the Lahu and Akha tribes.
IHF needs people with all skills. No matter your experience, whether a student or retired professional, IHF needs you. At the center, volunteers divide their time between playing with and teaching the children and working on international tasks. The center host English, computer and math classes, and the children often seek tutoring for their homework, all tasks which volunteers take part in. All directors lead on one or more of our international task teams such as university relations, photography and child watch. To qualify to work at a centre, volunteers must complete eight hours of work on one of the teams and they continue to participate on the team once at the centre. In the rare case where you lack the ability to complete these hours but possess certain trade skills in agriculture, construction or others needed at one of our centres, you may be exempt from these pre-trip hours. If this is the case, be sure to immediately get in contact with the center director to discuss your situation and possible alternative tasks.

It is important to note that IHF strictly requires its directors to work eight hours a day (four hours at the center and four hours online), six days a week. If this work is not completed, you will be dismissed from your position. As an entirely volunteer-run organization, IHF depends upon its members to contribute to the day-to-day operations, both locally and internationally.

At our centers they work with local staff and directly with the local population in conditions very different from the Western world. Special projects constantly arise and include moving food during famine feeds to monitoring children during breaks. Mission Statement:

IHF focuses on educating and feeding children who come from the most marginalized and disadvantaged backgrounds. IHF has set up orphanages in Kenya, Indonesia and Thailand. We seek to provide a way for children to get an education that they desperately desire and are not
able to receive.
Direct and Orphanage overseas - Kenya

Location: San Diego, CA 92122

The International Humanity Foundation is looking for directors to manage our orphanage and education center in Nakuru, Kenya, and be friends and teachers to our children. By bringing together
disadvantaged children of Kenya and volunteers from across the world, there is a learning opportunity for both. As both sides discover more about each other, their lives and their cultures and teach their others what they learned in this exchange, we hope to create a world of greater understanding and compassion. Our centre in Kenya also has a close relationship with the Pokot tribe in the eastern-central part of the nation and goes on regular famine feeds to support it.

Without these daily hours, IHF would cease to function, so directors must be deliberate in their use of time. This is not a vacation. Directors are expected to work hard.

Cost: Except for the initial transport to the center, directors are not responsible for any costs.

Salary / Pay: Directors must commit to serve at least a year at the center. For the first three months, they are paid a living stipend of USD $120. At the end of this training period, the monthly stipend
increases to USD $160. Directors are expected to work eight hours a day, six days a week, and have one long weekend every month. Additionally, directors are provided with a simple, private room,
often furnished with only a bed, at the center and have the opportunity to eat all of their meals at the center with the children.

Be a voluntourist in Indonesia

The International Humanity Foundation is looking for volunteers to serve at our centres in Jakarta, Bali, Aceh and Medan, Indonesia, and be friends and teachers to our children. By bringing together disadvantaged children of Indonesia and volunteers from across the world, there is a learning opportunity for both. As both sides discover more about each other, their lives and their cultures and teach their own friends about this, we hope to create a world of greater understanding and compassion. Unlike our other centers, the one is Bali is not an orphanage but only an education center. No children stay there, but many come for the classes held there.

Work

Serving as a voluntourist is an amazing learning opportunity, both about the challenges of poverty and the workings of an international non-profit organization. Through one-on-one time with the children, you will learn intimately about the international issues of education, human rights, abuse and poverty. Depending on the center you serve at, you will also learn about local issues such as tribal rights, land ownership, citizen status and tribal conflicts. Work is tailored to the age of the voluntourists. Young children are encouraged to simply play with our children while teens and adults may be expected to teach classes and lead unique activities.

IHF needs people with all skills. No matter your experience, whether a student or retired professional, IHF needs you. At the centre, volunteers divide their time between playing with and teaching the children and working on international projects. The centre host English, computer and math classes, and the children often seek tutoring for their homework, all tasks which volunteers take part in. You may also choose to participate in international work in the administration of IHF which will teach you how an international non-profit operates on a day-to-day basis.
It is important to note that these are intensive experiences. Once at the center, IHF requires its voluntourists to work four hours a day at the center, six day a week. There is time to sightsee and tour the nation, but work is always the first priority. IHF depends on its volunteers to function and to love the children. If you are not prepared to devote this time to work, you should look elsewhere for your service experience.

Cost: IHF is committed to offering a flexible, affordable service experience. There is no application fee, and the weekly fees for individual, couple and family voluntourists are all only USD $250 to cover the costs for their room and board, both very simple, at the center. Only married couples and immediate family will be allowed to room together due to strict cultural codes.

Volunteer Type: Building schools, community development, childcare/children, culture, curriculum planning, disability issues, economic development education, English teaching, health, health care, health education, homelessness, hospital, housing, human rights, literacy, marketing, medicine, nutrition, orphans, popular education, primary education, street kids, teaching, women, water, writing, youth, youth development, academic reinforcement, AIDS/HIV, appropriate technology

Typical Volunteer: Our volunteers have a passion for immersion in foreign cultures, an openness to new experiences and flexible approach to work. At our centres they will work with local staff and directly with the local population in conditions very different from the Western world. Special projects constantly arise, from moving food during famine feeds to monitoring children during breaks. Our volunteers have a lot of say in what they do and designing projects as long as it is approved by the director and promotes the mission of IHF.

Available To Participants: World wide

Typical Living Arrangement: Group living

Participants Travel: Independently

Typically Participants Work: Independently or in groups, depending on site

Application Requires: Resume, online application

Qualifications:

Volunteers with IHF must speak English fluently and have a great attitude. They must also be mature, responsible, team players, fast learners, flexible and interested in global change through education and service.

Most importantly, our volunteers must have an open heart and a willingness to help others and a passion to make a difference!
